Ephemeris Research

Conjunctions, aspects and sign changes. Ask in plain words.

Research, not prediction.·Sidereal Lahiri·mean nodes·searches from year 1 to 3000, up to 20 years at a time·precomputed reference tables cover 1900 to 2500 Vedic relations are by sign. Rashi-yuti across a boundary needs both planets within 5° of the shared edge; drishti can also count a planet near a sign edge (changeable).

Planets and relation

Sign, nakshatra and pada changes use the first planet only.

Ucca / Nica and latitude conjunction

Ucca / Nica: choose one of the seven grahas as the first planet, or "Any planet" for all seven. Latitude conjunction: choose two planets; the Moon is allowed here.

Planet group

Planets in the group (leave all unticked for the seven grahas):

How spread and gathering work

Spread: when every chosen planet fits inside an arc this wide, with the exact start, the tightest moment and the end. Gathering: when at least that many of the chosen planets share a rashi, or fit inside the arc; each set of planets is its own row. Rahu and Ketu are optional; choose one of them, not both. These are mathematical groupings: no classical name is given.

Navamsa and nakshatra

How these searches work

Navamsa changes, Vargottama periods, nakshatra and pada stays: choose one planet, or "Any planet" for the nine grahas. Every boundary moment is solved exactly, including the backward crossings of a retrograde loop. "Retrograde only" keeps backward navamsa crossings, and the nakshatras or padas a planet re-enters in a retrograde loop. The nakshatra choice applies to nakshatra and pada stays. Same nakshatra or pada: choose two planets. D1 and D9: the nine grahas at one moment; the date and time are read in the time zone chosen below.

Entry into a sign or nakshatra

Graha yuddha (planetary war)

Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Leave a planet as "any" to search every pair. The orb defaults to 1 degree. The victor is the planet farther north in ecliptic latitude (Surya Siddhanta / Brihat Samhita tradition); longitude only establishes that the war takes place. Each result has a "Show geometry" panel with the full positions, brightness and disc sizes.

Both models use the same Swiss Ephemeris positions, exact times and latitude victor; the model changes only the planet disc sizes and the encounter type (Surya Siddhanta 7.12-7.22). The SS model is a hybrid reconstruction (the text's bimba sizes with modern distances), not a historically exact Surya Siddhanta calculation. The two models' disc sizes are never mixed.

Retrograde or direct at the meeting

Judged at each exact meeting; an approach with no exact meeting is judged at its closest day.

Rashi-yuti and graha drishti

Period and time zone

Any year from 1 to 3000. Up to 20 years at a time. Sign in with Google (top right) to search up to 100 years.

How the orb works

Orb: leave blank for the default (5° for degree-based relations, none for Vedic). For rashi-yuti, the orb (or the sign-edge menu above) is the Boundary-Spanning Yuti tolerance: two planets in adjacent signs count only when both are within this many degrees of the boundary they share. For drishti, it keeps the older exploratory sign-edge rule: a planet within this many degrees of a sign edge also counts in the neighbouring sign.
