About Āḍi Veḷḷi
Āḍi Veḷḷi
Āḍi Veḷḷi (ஆடி வெள்ளி) refers to every Friday that falls during Aadi masa, the Tamil solar month when the Sun transits Karka rashi (Cancer). Friday, the day associated with the Divine Mother, is considered especially auspicious throughout this month for the worship of Devi and Amman across Tamil Nadu.
Temples dedicated to the Goddess see large gatherings on these Fridays, with special abhishekams, alankarams, and processions. Households, too, mark the day with kolam, offerings, and prayers to the Goddess for protection and prosperity through the month.
