Dhanteras and Diwali Muhurtha / Diwali Muhurta / Diwali Moorat / Lakshami Puja muhurtha
2009 Hindu Festivals

People do lakshmi puja and take oil bath and goto temples on the day of diwali. But muhurtha for doing such things are different. For example for doing lakshmi puja muhurtha is taken when the amavasya prevais after sunset. For take oil bath, wearing new clothes and going to temple amvasya prevailing at the sunrise time is taken. 

According to Dharma Sindhu and Nirnay Sindhu, when amavasya is pradoshakala vyapini take that one for the lakshmi puja, if it on both days take the second day, even if it prevails for one ghatika (24 minutes). Lakshmi pujan needs to be done during pradosha kala and sthira lagna where available in following muhurthas. Where sthirs navamansha is not available we have aligned it with chogadia -- chauturtha gatika.

Please start puja and the puja sankalpa during this time. The entire lakshmi Puja can finish after this time. It is important to do sankalpa during this time. It is best to do lakshami 'aahavahana time'(invocation time) during this time.
