Financial Jyotish
Jyotish Tutorial Sections 2.3 - 2.5

The Dhana Yogas are by far the most important money indicators, but here are some more that you can augment your analysis with. Most of these are from Dr. K. S. Charak's excellent book Yogas in Astrology. I highly recommend you get yourself a copy.

As you look at these, remember that planetary combinations of all kinds can play a role in refining the indications. Most are fairly intuitive based on what we already know about the planets and their houses (as listed in section 2.2), but some of these combinations have very specific indications that you might not suspect, but which Dr. Charak lists in his book.

Just a few examples of these are:

¨   Sun and Moon in the 1H - poor

¨   Sun and Moon in the 9H - wealthy

¨   Sun and Saturn in the 4H - poor

¨   Sun and Saturn in the 9H - wealthy

2.3 More good money yogas

These are very cryptic summaries so as always be sure to consider important factors such as those mentioned in section 2.2 under "Positive or Negative Indications".

¨   Any planet (natural benefic or malefic) associated with or aspected by the Lord of the 5th house AND the Lord of the 9th house will be beneficial.

¨   Vipreeta Yoga: Lord of one dusthana (6, 8, or 12) in another dusthana is beneficial.

¨   Chandra-Mangala

o       Association of Moon with Mars; good earnings and accumulation of wealth

Exception: in the 4th house this can indicate the native being poor

¨   Chandra Yogas

o       Adhi - Benefics (Mercury, Jupiter, Venus) occupy the 6th, 7th, and 8th houses from the Moon; prosperity.

o       Sunapha - A planet other than the Sun occupies the 2nd house from the Moon; immense wealth.

o       Durudhara - Planets other than the Sun occupy both the 2nd and 12th houses from the Moon; immense wealth.

o       Vasuman - All the benefics (Mercury, Jupiter, Venus) occupy the Upachaya houses (3, 6, 10, 11) from the Moon; extreme wealth.

¨   Dhana Yogas from the Moon

o       Dhanadhana; very wealthy. This occurs when the Moon in its own navamsha or that of a bosom friend, plus aspected by:

§         For a day birth: Jupiter

§         For a night birth: Venus

¨   Ravi Yogas (Solar)

o       Ubhayachari - Planets other than the Moon occupy the 2nd and 12th houses from the Sun; wealthy.

¨   Variagated Yogas - There are way too many to list. Some of the main ones are:

o       Gaja-Kesari - Jupiter in a kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) in relation to the Moon

o       Shubha-Kartari (Lagna) - Natural benefics occupy 2nd and 12th house from Lagna; much wealth.

o       Lakshmi - Lagna lord is very strong and the lord of the 9th house occupies a kendra which is his own house, his mulitrikona, or his sign of exaltation; very wealthy.

¨   Mahapurusha Yogas: When the following planet, exalted or in its own sign, is in a kendra from the lagna. (Yes, there are other Mahapurushas but they are not necessarily wealth indicators.)

o       Jupiter: Hamsa (material comforts)

o       Venus: Malavya (wealth)

o       Saturn: Shasha (wealth)

¨   Some of the Nabhasa Yogas

According to Dr. Charak, Nabhasa yogas (how the planets are grouped in a chart) are often overlooked but play an important role by shedding much light on the inherent promise of a horoscope. Here are a few that are considered positive indicators with regard to wealth.

o       Aashraya

§         Musala - All planets occupying fixed (Sthira) signs

§         Nala - All planets occupying mutable (Dwiswabhava) signs

Note: A Nala yoga shows fluctuating wealth and is listed as a difficult money yoga as well.

o       Dala

§         Maala or Srak - All benefics in 3 kendras and malefics not in kendras; blessed with nice things (implying wealth).

o       Aakriti

§         Gada - All planets confined to 2 adjacent kendras

§         Yava - Malefics in houses 1 and 7, benefics in houses 4 and 10

§         Kamala - All planets occupying the 4 kendras; status

§         Vaapi - All planets falling in houses other than the 4 kendras; accumulates and hoards

§         Shringata - All planets located in the trikona houses (1, 5, 9)

§         Yoopa - All planets located in houses 1 to 4

o       Sankhya

§         Kedaara - Planets occupying 4 houses

§         Paasha - Planets distributed over 5 houses; skillful in earning

§         Daama - Planets distributed over 6 houses

§         Veena - The 7 planets distributed in 7 different houses

2.4 Difficult money yogas

Here are a few yogas that can be difficult with regard to wealth (showing little or no wealth or a loss of wealth).

¨   Chandra Yogas

o       Kemadruma - No planet in the 2nd or 12th house from the Moon (Sun is an exception). Note there are many ways by which a Kemadruma can be cancelled!

o       Shakata - Jupiter, in a house other than a kendra and in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house from the Moon.

¨   Sanyasa Yoga - 4 or more strong planets all in one house

Here, the native may have wealth but give it up.

¨   Some of the Nabhasa Yogas

o       Aashraya

§         Nala - All planets occupying mutable (Dwiswabhava) signs

Note: A Nala yoga shows fluctuating wealth and is listed as a favorable money yoga as well.

o       Aakriti

§         Shakata (not the same as the Jupiter/Moon shakata listed above under Chandra yogas) - All planets located in the lagna or the 7th house.

§         Pakshi or Vihaga - All planets confined to houses 4 and 10

§         Hala - All planets located in one of these sets of trinal houses

·        2, 6, and 10

·        3, 7, and 11

·        4, 8, and 12

§         Shakti - All planets occupying the houses 7 to 10

§         Danda - All planets located in the 4 houses from 10 to lagna

o       Sankhya

§         Gola - All planets confined to 1 house only

§         Yuga - Planets restricted to 2 houses

2.5 Lifelong vs. Temporary Influences

The fructification of most yogas is dependent on their planetary periods (dasas), but there are some that will show their effects throughout one's life.

These are:

¨   A predominance of either benefic yogas or adverse yogas will have an overall effect, regardless of the current dasa.

¨   The strength of the lagna will have a lifelong effect. You need a strong lagna even for the all-important Dhana Yogas (section 2.1.2) to manifest significantly.

¨   Mahapurusha Yogas have a lifelong effect.

¨   Nabhasa Yogas have a lifelong effect.

Again, if you'd like more detail about any of these yogas, I highly recommend you consult Dr. Charak's book Yogas in Astrology. He goes into great detail enumerating other factors related to these yogas that you may want to consider before drawing any conclusions. As I mentioned toward the beginning of this article, some of these are counter-intuitive so it's helpful to check into the details.

In the next article, we'll discuss house, sign, and nakshatra placement of the relevant money yogas.

Until then, remember you can always leave comments or questions for me on the Financial Tutorial page at my site. I will respond.

Namasté.
