Parasurama Jayanti celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Parasurama, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. He appeared on Vaishakha Shukla Tritiya (Akshaya Tritiya) with the mission of restoring dharma by defeating kings who had become tyrannical. He is one of the seven immortals (Chiranjivis) and is believed to still be in meditation on the Mahendra Mountains.
